Some weeks feel like you’re running a marathon and getting to Friday is finally crossing that last bend where the finish line comes into view. This week wasn’t quite one of those weeks, but it’s felt close. Both my body and mind are tired and in desperate need of a little respite. However, there have been a lot of wonderful highlights this week and for those, I choose to be thankful:
--It finally feels like fall. :) <3
I don’t remember there being much of a fall in southern California last year, so in comparison to that, this year it’s almost overwhelming. Leaves are blowing through my street and pumpkins are already shining from people’s windows and the mornings are cold and permeated with that “fall” smell and the early evenings have begun to shed that warm, golden autumn sunlight. It’s been pure magic.

--Even better, on Tuesday and Wednesday it poured rain. POURED. I nearly died and went to heaven. (Ohhh, happy day, happy day, you’ve washed my sin away…--jesus culture)
--Talking to/being around other men that I work with, am friends with, etc. this week has made me so much more thankful for Ethan. I think I mention this every time I happen to "give thanks," but it just amazes me how even when we haven't talked for a week, I can still see all the amazing parts of his heart and the little ways in which he loves me. I am just so very thankful to be his girl. :)
--I broke my laptop this week. And while I did end up getting to buy a new one, I believe the circumstances were a God thing used to open my eyes and give me a fresh perspective. That is, I often find that I am stressed and overwhelmed and a lot of that stress stems from some “responsibility” I feel towards being technologically connected. And the truth is, while the internet is a great tool to stay connected, it is also a big distraction and a time waster. So I’ve decided to boycott Facebook completely and only get on Blogger and check my email every couple of days or so. Already, I am two days sober off of Facebook ;) and I feel wonders more free.

--Having a best friend who understands me and keeps me accountable and who, instead of letting me dig deeper in life by myself, digs right alongside with me.
--Finishing my first big psych test of the semester and getting an 80%! I studied harder for that test than I have for anything in my life and it was probably the hardest test I’ve ever taken in my life, so I'm pretty pumped!
--Getting to go on a free boat ride in Newport Harbor! It was sooo peaceful and an absolute blast. God-willing, I definitey wouldn't mind getting a boat someday. :)
And this weekend looks like: Military ball dress shopping in LA with a fellow Marine girlfriend. Hitting the gym for the first time in 3 months. Catching up on homework. Vanilla chai’s in bed (yes, please!). Enjoying this fall weather and doing nothing. :)

Hope your weekend plans are just as wonderful and filled with gorgeous autumn things!
