Info Post
--it’s Friday.  ‘nuff said.

--I’ve been a pinning maniac this week, and I’ve found some sweet, amazing, hilarious things.  Below are some of my favorites.

probably my all-time favorite thing i've ever pinned.

enchanting.

Walrus' reaction after getting a birthday cake made out of fish.  so adorable!

--I decided it wasn’t feasible for my bank account to go to Tennessee this fall AND fly home for Thanksgiving AND fly home for Christmas. :( So instead of flying back east, my mom is going to fly down here and visit me next month.  I am SO excited.  I’m really looking forward to showing my mom some of my favorite places and things down here (charming Old Towne Orange and vanilla chai’s are a MUST on this trip).  Plus, we’re going to do some things together that will be new for both of us.  So far those two things are: whale-watching and exploring downtown San Clemente.

My mom is one of my best friends and I am really, really looking forward to having some solid time, just the two of us.

--I’ve been blogging so much recently and it has been like pure joy for me.  I’m learning that there’s a season for everything—even a season for writing and a season for quiet.  My season for quiet was painful at times, but it makes these times of writing that much more appreciated.

--This week, I also discovered that I am actually madly in love with thrifting.

Truthfully, I never wanted to be THAT girl.  In fact, I still think that thrifting has become more of a trendy, hipster thing to say you do.  And up until recently, that always annoyed me.  I also never used to get the idea of sorting through piles of crap to find the good stuff.  I didn’t want to spend the time on that.

Slowly, but surely, though, it's grown on me.   This week, I went twice, on a mission to find a dresser.  What I ended up getting was a cute little black and red plaid schoolgirl skirt, a baggy grey sweater with a pink bicycle on it, a red-and-white checkered shirt that ties up in the front, and a dark brown cardigan.  All for under $20!  And all of it is soo cute<3

I even found the most darling designer black boots that would normally go for probably over $50.  I didn’t end up buying them because I wasn’t sold on them, but whoever does get those is really scoring big.

Anyways, I finally get it.  There is something about digging through those racks, finding adorable things, and spending practically nothing for them.  You can also find really cool, unique items that you could never find anywhere else.

I feel grossly like a woman right now, writing about this, but it gets me excited.

As I wrote in my blog the other day, I’m trying to get better about spending time and energy buying things, so this is going to be another thing I’m going to have to curb.  But I love knowing that I no longer have to spend a fortune to look cute.

--last night was the loveliest.   i laid out.  i made horchata.  i did all my laundry and put up my fall decorations.  i worked on rearranging more of my room and i'm loving the process.

i also made these little babies:

mine didn't turn out anywhere NEAR as beautiful as the ones in the picture--more like big rolls.  i simply did not have the patience for making them look pretty.  but the important thing is that: it's pastry.  with Nutella.  all other factors are irrelevant.

all in all, it was one of those simple, perfect evenings to myself.

So, there you have it. :) My happy Friday things.  Ethan and I are planning on ACTUALLY going to Mount Baldy this weekend (same as last weekend), so hopefully this time we’ll actually make it.

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!
